It was a historic day of creativity here on The Eastern Shore Virginia this past Saturday.
We were at The 11th Annual ESO Shore Made Music Festival, and with 20 bands on the main stage, another half dozen on the second stage, and local artists displaying pottery, jewelry, folk art, paintings, stained glass, etc........ there was plenty of ear and eye candy for everyone.

The music ranged from gospel to classical, blues to rock, alternative to folk, and everything in between.

"In 1492......."
Columbus sailed the blue and discovered America!

We all know the story of Christopher Columbus
the famous explorer, navigator and sailor.

But Columbus was on his way to The Far East, and miscalculated his voyage by thousands of miles.

And when he landed in the place we call America,
Christopher Columbus thought he was in India,
and even call the the people 'Indians'.

Those 'Indians'  thought he made as much sense as a holiday that closes banks and post offices,

while the  kids still have to go to school,

and you still have to go to work.
Tonight we're celebrating a Day of Discovery,
even though some of the greatest inventions and discoveries in history were purely accidental......

"Back in the day"
Last week we celebrated Columbus Day,
because 'back in the day'.... America was discovered.
And next week is Halloween, and there's more talk of
'back in the day'.

Made us wonder what 'back in the day' means.
So we got two local views from two local musicians.

                          Interviews that is.....

*First meet "The Singing Sign Man" Dean Mears.
This local County Western Legend played with stars like Ernest Tubb, Loretta Lynn, and Waylon Jenning for 50 years, while living on ESVA in Exmore, Virginia.

We lose track of time when Dean takes us
'back in the day'  before there was rock and roll.

**Then Ted Cathey stops by for a guitar tip,
and  has a spontaneous interview with his guest
Johnny Mo "The Musical Chef" .
Soon everyone is wondering where things are headed, and even sooner we find ourselves 'back in the day'.

But this time..... rap is new on the scene.

We like variety, and we hope you do too.

Unfortunately, there's not a lot of local songs about Thanksgiving, or turkeys...
