2012 is the year in which the Mayan calendar comes to an end, and they predicted a great change (often interpreted as 'the end of the world'). Certain tribes of American Indians (Cherokee and Hopi) believed that this year would be a year of 'great purification' and the 'old world would disappear'. Also concerned with 2012 were the ancient Chinese, Egyptian, Celtic, Babylonian, Sumerian and Israelite prophets. Even Nostradamus and Albert Einstein mention the famous date 12/21/2012....

We feature local music here on Shore Made Music, but we do play regional and national artists who have a gig here, or drop a CD off at the station while traveling through our rural paradise. Ted Cathey has an interview tonight with a local musician who often practices 10 hours a day, writes and records music in his recording studio and wants to organize a festival featuring bands from Virginia. If that's not enough... he's an artist and can solve a rubik's cube in 11 seconds. He's also the lead guitarist for local metal band We Silence You Tonight and if that's not enough...... Last week we featured new music from local band Fat Tuesday and The New Custards. Their LP "Smile and Nod" has 14 all original songs, but unfortunately we ran out of air time last Monday night. Unfortunately, Chris passed away recently, and he will be missed here on The Eastern Shore Virginia. Tonight we feature two local bands..... one from Vermont, and the other from Kentucky. Vermont Joy Parade is on an American Tour in their veggie oil powered bus, and brought their suspender -fusion music to Kelly's Gingernut Pub (Cape Charles) on Friday night. VPJ was sharing the stage with The Bloodroots Barter, a four piece group from deep in the heart of Kentucky, with a sound described as Voodoo Grass.
